Meme Pedia

MemePedia is a vast archive of hundreds of Memes that will allow users to easily access and share any image/joke.

PURPOSE

With memes being so prevalent, MemePedia is a product that enhances the experience when engaging in humorous exchanges popularly known as Meme Wars.

RESEARCH PLAN

We began with assumptions from which we derived hypotheses, and from those hypotheses we derived our interview questions.

Assumption:
Memes are an attempt to combine comedy with real events

Hypothesis:
People come up with memes because they do not want to deal with their real-life situation, so they create a situation where everybody can laugh at their problems with them/ support them by laughing through problems with them

Why do you feel like meme are an appropriate way to express your emotion?

After analyzing the interviews, we found they had 6 themes in common:

PERSONAS

Jeff is a student who wants to laugh and entertain people in a reliable space. Currently, he has trouble finding the right meme quickly before the war ends. He wants to be able to quickly find memes to participate in the meme war.

Bo is a student who wants to not be bored and entertain his friends. Currently, he can't find memes that are funny enough to share with them. He wants to be able to find memes that are funny enough to share.

Lisa is a college graduate and business owner who wants to laugh with others and share memes. Currently, she has trouble trying to find the right memes to post. She wants to be able to share the right memes quickly.

STUDY CONCLUSION

We were able to learn what sort of memes people are more drawn to and how often people refer back to memes in the context of the conversation. Depending on an individual's experiences and personal relationships, memes leave different memories and ideas to those that use them. Although most are positive emotions, some memes are harmful to those who become the subject of ridicule.

STORYBOARDS

Bo wants to join the meme war with his friends, but he does not have any memes to share. His friends recommend an app called Memepedia to help Bo find memes. Bo successfully participates in the meme war and is satisfied.

Lisa is sitting on the couch with nothing to do. In an effort to entertain herself, she opens Memepedia and creates a meme to share.

Jeff is involved in a meme war, and he realizes that he does not have the appropriate meme. He decides to use Memepedia to find a meme and win the war.

FINAL SCREENS

For the final screens, we made some changes based on the feedback we got. We added an advanced search option, so users could narrow down their searches. We also added an eye icon in the corner of the pictures, so users knew they were clickable, and we added more sharing options. Although the most popular ways to share memes were Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, users also used other platforms to share their work.
